We have pleasure in submitting the report of the activities of our association during the last financial year ending 31st march 2009.

In order to sort out many problems faced by the member industries in this area, this association was formed in the year 1983. Presently we have 66 industries as our members ( including member industries beyond MIDC area ) On behalf of the Managing Committee, We welcome following industries, who have joined in PRIA family as member during the financial year.

PRIA continues to take up common problems faced by members with respective authorities and we are happy to mention that PRIA has done remarkable progress in spite of various difficulties. We are enumerating below some of the activities of the Association.

1. PRIA SCHOOL

Our association is running an English medium school, which was earlier affiliated to K.T.S.P. Mandal, Khopoli, up to 31.03.2007. Since 01.04.2007, school is being managed by our Association. Our school does not receive any grant from Government. About 1600 students are presently studying in the school.

The facilities are available up to Xth standard. We are proud to mention that the school has retained its reputation of 100% results at the board level this year also. All the 71 students have passed, ( 34 students secured distinction. 31 students obtained 1st class ) This is the sixteenth consecutive year that the school has achieved such laurels.

On behalf of the Managing Committee and the members, we express our heartiest congratulations to all the teachers, staff, students and parents of PRIA school.

During November 2008, PRIA has introduced ‘Health Plan’ for the benefit of students / teachers & PRIA Staff, which includes free medical treatment in Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital to the extent of amount agreed to jointly, as well insurance coverage for accidental Death & Permanent Total Disablement.

Parent – Teachers Association is already in existence and periodical meeting are organized.

The proposal regarding expansion of school building is also under active consideration and we earnestly request our members to kindly donate for this noble cause.

We express sincere thanks for co-operation of Panchayat Samiti, Khalapur / Zilla Parishad Alibag for rendering advice from time to time.

2. TELEPHONE

In our opinion this is a least problematic area. The authorities are trying their level best to provide latest communication facilities to this area. Due to theft of cables, problems were faced but position is comparatively improved.

3. PRIA GARDEN

The garden has long remained neglected and presently it is in a very bad shape. We admit neither paying attention nor the resources to undertake the development and maintenance of this garden. Efforts are, however, being made to find out sponsorship for maintenance of garden.

4. FIRE STATION

MIDC had been insisting that PRIA should run this fire station. The Emergency Response Centre and MARG are in operation through adequate supports from M/s. HOCL, M/s. BDMC, M/s. RIL, M/s. HIL, and M/s KDL Bio-tech Ltd. The group is doing an excellent service mitigating the hazardous situations within the vicinity. In view of this, the proposal of Association for not establishing Fire Station in the area has been accepted by MIDC.

5. LIQUID WASTE MANAGEMENT

Our CETP plant is in full operation. We are thankful to MPCB / MIDC for giving full support and because of their co-operation and positive approach we are able to get additional members from the vicinity.

6. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

The site approval for solid waste disposal in MIDC phase II was put on hold indefinitely by the respective authorities. It is rather forced on our members. Industries are forced to join the SWD site developed by M/s. Bombay Waste Management at MIDC Taloja. The costs are exorbitant and considering the present status of the industries it is most difficult proposition.

7. WELFARE CENTRE

The matter is strongly taken up in the. ‘Zilla Udyog Meeting’. No representative from the MLWB ever attends the meeting in-spite of repeated letters to them from the Collector, Raigad. The matter has been discussed recently during the meeting with CEO / MIDC and further actions are being taken.

8. ROADS

The roads in and around industrial and residential area have been resurfaced by MIDC and we hope that this will last long. We are thankful to MIDC authorities for their keen interest in improving the quality of roads. During mansoon, the condition of roads had been deteriorated MIDC authorities have however carried out temporary repairs.

We have approached MIDC Authorities to provide concrete roads in industrial / residential areas.

9. RAILWAYS

Association has already approached Railway Minister for providing shuttle services between Panvel - Apte as per shifts and also for providing station located at Dand - Phata on Panvel - Karjat route.

It is understood from local newspapers that the proposal to provide station at Dand Phata is principally accepted by the authorities.

10. MSEDC

Industries are facing acute problem due to shortage of power. The matter is being taken up with respective authorities.

12. INDUSTRIAL TOWNSHIP

The Govt. Of Maharashtra declared 17 industrial areas as an Industrial Townships but there are only few industries. The most of the MIDC based industrial associations are taking up this issue strongly with MIDC and the Govt. Of Maharashtra. Maratha Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Pune have taken up the issue to Govt. Authorities on behalf of all Industries associations in Maharashtra and matter is being perused.

13. TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

Efforts were made to organize training programme for drivers carrying hazardous goods / chemicals but for want of adequate response, the proposal had to be dropped.

Executive Development Programme was successfully organized on 5th March with assistance of Reliance Industries Ltd, Patalganga.

It is proposed to organize training for contract workers as well as development training programmes for workers / supervisors / executives
We request members to sponsor participants, whenever programmes are organized.

The Prizes to successful participants were distributed at the hands of Shri R. M. Joshi, Jt. Director ( DISH ), D. B. Batki, Dy. Director ( DISH ) and Shri S. M. Pathak, President, Reliance Industries Ltd Patalganga.

15. MUTUAL AID RESPONSE GROUP ( MARG ) AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE ( ERC )

Both the above institutions have successfully handled various emergencies during accidents in vicinity. Safety Training programme / Mock Drills etc. have been appreciated by DISH authorities.

18. COMMON EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT - ( CETP )

CETP which is established by PRIA, is being successfully operated with active co-operation from Members, MIDC and MPCB.

The expansion of CETP is also under active consideration.

19. GENERAL

What PRIA has achieved, could not have been possible without co-operation and support from all its member industries. However our association is working under many constraints. For organizing various activities, such as development programs, meetings and other related activities PRIA needs continuous support from all the member industries. The tasks ahead can be accomplished only with the active and a wholehearted support and participation. Our efforts are on to induce remaining industries to become the member of our association.

It is necessary to strengthen PRIA, which is a source of strength to the industries in this zone. An interactive contribution to PRIA is a contribution to self and in order to get expected results, it is necessary to put united efforts and strengthen the association. We make an earnest appeal to all the members as well as non-member units to extend co-operation and participate actively to build PRIA still stronger. We seek your active participation.

We still feel that the infra-structural facilities are not adequate and are not in accordance with the modern needs of industries. Unless the Govt. machinery keeps pace with the modern needs and changes its outlook, we can neither expect speedy development nor the improvements. We expect better co-operation and result-oriented actions from the Govt. machinery and various authorities in the interest of economic and industrial growth of this region.

PRIA is thankful to various authorities of State Govt., Central Govt., MIDC, MSEDC, BSNL - Raigad, Zilla Udyog Mitra, Collectorate Raigad, Tahsildar Khalapur and many others who have directly or indirectly helped our association to resolve our problems.

We are sure and rightly expect to get greater support and co-operation in times to come.

With best wishes and regards,

( P. G. Mhapankar )
GENERAL SECRETARY
